A roadmap for indie game development - Make your first game and many more!

Hey everyone! I recently made a YouTube video about making your first game and many more. This video was inspired by a question I received on Twitter where they had completed all of the Unity tutorials but wasn't sure where to go from here.

I'll leave a video block below so you can check out the video.

It was really exciting to show off Sky Jump, I made it with my friend Raymond Cripps at a game jam over 48 hours. The response has been really great, people like the visuals, it kind of makes me want to make it into a full game haha.

At this point in my game development journey YouTube is a great platform for me to share work and get more inspired. I work pretty much of discipline now making sure I chip away at my projects on a daily basis. It's very easy to get into a spiral of starting a new project, having a ton of motivation then losing this motivation and starting a new project again.

My goal for the rest of this year is to stay disciplined enough to finish the game I'm working on now and release it. If you're curious about the game I'm working on I'll be doing a dev log of it soon on my YouTube channel and I'll also post some content on this blog.

Last year I went through my own cycle of making a prototype in a week, kind of working on it but eventually dropping it. I went through a game a week in my own weird way without realising it. The problem is when I think about it I really wish I kept on going with every project and finished them off. I managed to release three mobile games last year which was really cool but I really want to make a PC game that gets an audience. With the help of my YouTube channel and my other social media accounts hopefully I can get people invested into my game, hopefully people will go on the journey with me of taking something to completion and getting it onto steam.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the video and my extra thoughts. Thanks for reading and I'll catch you next time!
